7 UNEXPECTED BENEFITS OF HIRING AN INTERIOR DESIGNER

Isn't it easy to pick a paint color? Can't I just do it myself? We hear these comments all the time....but did you know that by hiring an Interior Designer your gaining the benefit of being able to professional see the bigger picture! Seeing the bigger picture and being able to visualize all of the small details is the most important! Too often we see projects completed that did not consider one selection with the next and it's not realized until after the material is installed. That those particular selections don't really work together. Same thing with furnishings, you have to be able to see the bigger picture with colors, textures, and patterns. As trained Interior Designers we go through the education and gain the professional experience to be able to present and illustrate how your project should come together.

We as designers understand color theory, spatial planning, and scale. The investment of an Interior Designer will be well worth it and here are 7 reasons why!

#7. Interior Designers Keep Your Timeline Efficient

Timeline is this most concerning part of any project. Interior Designers have faced a challenge when it comes to timeline and the unrealistic perspective of HGTV. Our clients often think that projects should not take long and will be relatively inexpensive. This is not entirely true...YES there are ways to budget control but like anything else things of this nature and quality cost a certain amount. If you approach any project with a fast and cheap mindset know that you will be sacrificing quality. What I like to convey to our clients is yes we can absolutely stick to an EFFICIENT YET REALISTIC TIMELINE. We also help the owner save time by already having products and resources readily available. This saves the owners from spending a ton of time in doing their own research on product brands. In addition, coordinating with trades on installation, placement, and any last minute on the spot decisions. And there will always be on the spot decisions or problem solving that as trained and experienced designers we can solve in no time!

#6. Interior Designers Professionally Manage Your Budget

Every project has a budget and it all comes down to the right combination of materials and knowing when to save and when to splurge! There are areas in a project that we know where to save and what materials are best suited for those areas...remember that bigger picture well knowing how all of that will come together and how to mix quality selections with budget friendly selections to what makes that difference! For us its always in the small details...remember we are trained to pay attention to the details and what will make that difference. From understanding color, light and scale to mixing hardware finishes! Knowing how to bring together those different elements can have a HUGE impact on the overall design and a positive affect on budget!

#5. Interior Designers Create Uniquely Functional Spaces

When designing a space or entire project you not only what it to look amazing but be functional to YOUR lifestyle! This is when we go out of our way to truly understand our client’s needs, and how we can best create a space that makes their everyday life efficient and beautiful. Whether that's the use of performance fabric for everyday wear or the need for integrated storage ideas. Storage that suits the specific needs of a client is always a big question. You can never have enough right!  But it’s about creating the right kind of storage so that you can also efficiently organize the space. For example, we have an in-progress new build right now and they have a very busy lifestyle and a large family. During the design phase every square inch of the program was thoughtfully planned but we were missing one space...a craft room! However we were also at our max with square footage...so what we did was increase the size of the guest room closet by just a little and incorporated a few features within the closet. We weren't working with that much space so we prioritized what the client most functionally needed...a wrapping station!

#4. Interior Designers Make Your Home Personal

OK so this is where the WOW factor can come into play! How daring are you to trust us to personalize your space and truly create one of kind spaces. There are so many ways to achieve a unique look in the use of color, texture, and material placement just to name a few. Allowing your personality to shine also means being a little bold! Even if all you want is white and grey allow us to show ways to use materials that are different and unexpected! So that even a neutral palette doesn't look just like your friends house! Too often when we start a project a client comes to the table with an open mind and even some pictures that illustrate either a bold use of color and/or pattern. However throughout the process they become hesitate and afraid of the outcome. BUT I always urge my clients to remember why you hired an Interior Designer. Was it to create beautiful and exclusive surroundings that are unexpected, comfortable, and express your unique sense of self? Or recreate down to every last detail a Pinterest image that tells someone's story?

#3. Interior Designers Bring You Their Network

Vendor relationships are extremely important! I often like to remind my clients or potential clients why they are investing in me. One of those reasons is it takes a VERY long time for me to establish trust-worthy and successful vendor relationships. I have this saying...Your not investing in maybe the hour it takes me to complete a task but your investing in the education and over 12 years experience it has taken for me to learn the most efficient ways to move through the design process. I say that because we hear to often with our profession, "That didn't take long" or "I could have done that" but the remember all of the training, experiences, and nurturing of vender relationships we as professional interior designers have done to provide the very best, efficient, and quality service. Hiring someone that has the experience and vendor relationships can save you time and money. For instance, when we experience a product defect or we are short material, yes everything is not always perfect :) my vendor relationship will step up to the plate and solve any issues and usually no cost to the owner. WHY? Because of the honest relationship they have with your designer.

#2. Interior Designers Give You Peace of Mind

If I had a dollar for every time I say "TRUST ME" on a project...well anyway. Allow us to bring you Peace of Mind! We know the questions to ask and what needs to be done. We have spent time getting to know you, which means the decisions we make and the materials we present reflect you and your story. Hiring us means you can sit back and know that the result will be amazing only if you truly let go and allow it. In a recent new build, we wanted to make a statement with the kitchen cabinet color. What we knew of the personality of this client a unique color made sense in her material story. We knew we wanted something different but yet still soft.  The kitchen is open to the living and breakfast room so this color was absolutely setting the tone of the space. Our client was apprehensive but ultimately trusted us and our vision! (she allowed herself to have peace of mind). As expected they love the color and what it does to the space! Its one of the features that everyone asks “oh wow what’s that color?”…“I would love to do a color like this in my kitchen but just don't know how to incorporate it"

TRUST ME WE'VE GOT THIS!
