Peachy pink with gold undertones, Living Coral is a fresh and vibrant color to add to your home in 2019. Because of its bold nature, we recommend using this color as an accent rather than a foundation color. You'll find this shade popping up in window treatments, upholstery, wall paper patterns, and decor items. It’s fun, energetic, and bold!

“Color is an equalizing lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanizing and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord.”

PAIR IT WITH OTHER COLORS TIP #1

Whether you love a light, airy palette or dark, deep palette, Living Coral has the flexibility to go in either direction. Overall, this shade goes well with greens, peaches, grays, and golds. DON’T limit yourself to pairing it with just pastels. We are loving experimenting with rich greens and charcoals for beautiful, dramatic statements. When mixing in natural materials, Living Coral also pairs well with light wood tones.

If you're in love with Living Coral, you can easily incorporate it into your home in subtle ways that bring maximum impact without being too loud or too bright.

USE IT IN PATTERN TIP #2

Patterns in window treatments, upholstery, and wall paper are bolstered by a bold shade like Living Coral. So, don’t go too bold with it right away! Try incorporating the color into pieces you already have with some textiles and small accessories.

It acts as the "cherry on top" rather than the entire ice cream sundae and allows you to add artwork or decorative pieces that also contain that shade, pulling your space together effortlessly.

CREATE STATEMENT SPACES TIP #3

For those of you who want to go bold in your space, use Living Coral on the walls or even an entire furniture set. This bold color carries a retro vibe in large doses and works well in eclectic or mid-century modern spaces.

Living Coral can add a fun statement to an all-white bathroom! By adding coral color tiles to a shower or behind a vanity, you can create an energetic-vibe… and we can all use a little energy when getting ready in the morning! Remember, coral pairs best with gold accents, so you may need to consider switching out your plumbing accessories!

Because this color is energetic and lively, it is best used in living and family rooms and avoided in bedrooms. Living Coral can become the “WOW!” factor in spaces shared with your guests.

COLOR OF THE YEAR ULTRA VIOLET

PANTONE’S COLOR OF THE YEAR ULTRA VIOLET

Let’s chat about this color…I particularly love the impact that this color can have on your space. Whether you use it as an accent color or go all out with it this color has a way of bringing some thoughtful drama to any environment. The impact it can have is vivid and inspiring but still soft. I like to describe this color as mindful but magical!

As a designer the versatility of the color is very interesting. Ultra violet naturally has both cool and warm temperatures. This characteristic can make the color adaptable in almost any surrounding. Which brings me to the question I have been asked so many times “Ultra violet…….what does that go with?!” WELL the answer is that purples in general serve as strong complimentary colors and can really be paired with so many different colors. The experimenting aspect of using this color can result in unexpected, beautiful and even elegant spaces.

I for one am really excited to see the transformations for this color throughout the year. Not only in design but in fashion and art. The creativity, the combinations, and the experimenting with this BOLD choice in color throughout the design industry will be one to watch!
